It was dusk by now and the teenager was starting to feel the urge to go out for a brisk walk, around the city as he so often did as a means of clearing his head. He began heading out his apartment door with no place in particular in mind and after what had felt like a few hours, he stopped a bit, seating himself on a step of a staircase. He began to sigh to himself wondering where his best friend had been hiding now. It wasn’t like Mikado to just not show up at school. And he admitted that it had indeed been a while since he had last visited. Maybe he was due to try that again. He doubted he had any real cause for worry anyway. The boy was probably held up in his room studying but even still - the blond couldn’t shake off the feeling he was having in the pit of his stomach right now. He was trying not to give in but his thoughts proved to head for the worse.
Suddenly standing, he lifted his head up some to gaze off into the distance. A figure caught his eye at random and without hesitation, he followed. He wondered if that could be Mikado by some shot of luck. He couldn’t imagine why he would think such a thing but he remembered how suspicious his friend had been acting since he’d seen him last.
Taking a few more steps, he nearly lost sight of the figure. Suddenly, he could have sworn he’d heard Mikado’s voice and quickly began giving chase. Finally, he arrived at the scene of what looked to be at least several older guys and there stood Mikado. He looked nothing like the way Kida had ever seen him before. He looked - different somehow. Kida didn’t like what he happened to get a glimpse of but remained silent until the group left. He was just about to leave himself until he was met face to face with his friend.
“Yeah. I saw that. Care t’ explain what it was about?”
They were acting up again; getting way too out of hand and almost impossible to control. Even if Mikado turned out to be a terrible leader and didn’t interfere, the fact that some of them were getting way too out of hand just meant that he had to step in. It wasn’t as though he wanted to, considering the Dollars had been established on the basis of freedom and not being controlled, but there was a line that shouldn’t be crossed. They had done so. And as much as he knew that Masaomi suspected something – it was hard not to realise – there came a time when he had to gather a group together, and talk to them and ask for help from others. All of this put together made it so he had less time for his friends and more time for the Dollars and the groups that were both out of hand and willing to help him against them.
Now was one of those times, and he had to swerve through the streets of Ikebukuro to make it to where he would be meeting them. As much of a leader he was, Mikado didn’t suspect someone of following, and wouldn’t realise until they revealed themselves that someone actually had been. The last person he wanted to, of course–
The meeting wouldn’t take long, all things considered. It was just to pass out a few orders that shouldn’t be given over phone, serious ones that he’d rather be taken just as seriously. The boss had to make an appearance in front of the Dollar subordinates, as much as he would rather avoid it. They were given quickly, and when they finally ran off and it was technically time for him to go and meet others, a voice called out to him, and the teen paused. Oh god. This wasn’t supposed to happen not like this and not now why did he have to turn up--
“… Kida-kun? W-what- I-.. What do you mean?”
